Or have you ever wondered why you stuck to a bunch of good friends through thick and thin? Or why have you choosen that particular person as your business partner? What exactly is the magical formula or potion to substain that relationship you are looking for or you are already in?

The answer lies in creating common goals, common values and doing common activities together. In every relationship two key elements dictate if the relationship will be successful and lasting. Firstly its the purpose of the relationship. It might be for companionship, a person looking for another person for company or to confide their troubles to. It might be for protection, a group makes it harder for others to harm you. Or it might be for economic progression on both part of the parties involved, the principal of leverage applies here whereby different parties with different abilities team up to achieve a common goal drawing on each other's strength. Secondly, its the meaning of the relationship. What does this relationship means to either party involved? Is the person an integral part of the other party's life? Does the person provide something the other party is looking for? Or is the other party merely leeching on the other person's resources and not contributing?

For any relationship to work, all parties involved must contribute to a common goal, providing coverage for each other, creating values for each other. In this way you will become an integral part of the person life and you will gain the trust and in turn the protection and help from the other party.

Relationship building is an art and its not done by copying the actions of others, most important element of any relationship is that actions taken must be from the heart not merely doing it just to show others that you did something.

I have a dream -- Westlife

A song that always rejuvenates me whenever i feel tired...

I have a dream -- Westlife

I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream - I have a dream

I have a dream, a fantasy
To help me through reality
And my destination makes it worth the while
Pushing through the darkness still another mile
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream - I have a dream

I have a dream, a song to sing
To help me cope with anything
If you see the wonder of a fairy tale
You can take the future even if you fail
I believe in angels
Something good in everything I see
I believe in angels
When I know the time is right for me
I'll cross the stream - I have a dream
I'll cross the stream - I have a dream

Bitter Sweet Harmony of life...

Was watching a tvb drama "Tang Xin feng bao" when these thoughts flowed into my mind... In the drama the elder brother emblezzed the family company's money to help his younger brother to tide over a crisis.... And when it was found out that the money has been emblezzed he took the blame for his brother and remained quiet about it... There was a picture on the wall and it said... "Eat it no matter if its sweet or bitter"

This little picture reminded me of how a leader should behave... The duty of a leader is to make his subjects shine... Sometimes in order to make other people shine, personal sacrifices are to be made and the leader have to face the bulk of the repercussion of the sacrifices... Such is the journey of a true leader that will earn the admiration of his subjects... But choosing of his subjects is important... Its a skill a leader must have in order to identify people whom will be loyal to his cause and not betray his trust and his sacrifices...

Endure for the journey is long....

Hero

Let me be your hero

Would you dance,
If I asked you to dance?
Would you run,
And never look back?
Would you cry,
If you saw me crying?
And would you save my soul, tonight?

Would you tremble,
If I touched your lips?
Would you laugh?
Oh please tell me this.
Now would you die,
For the one you love?
Hold me in your arms, tonight.

I can be your hero, baby.
I can kiss away the pain.
I will stand by you forever.
You can take my breath away.

Would you swear,
That youll always be mine?
Or would you lie?
Would you run and hide?
Am I in too deep?
Have I lost my mind?

I dont care...
Youre here, tonight.

I can be your hero, baby.
I can kiss away the pain.
I will stand by you forever.
You can take my breath away.

Oh, I just wanna to hold you.
I just wanna to hold you.
Oh yeah.
Am I in too deep?
Have I lost my mind?
Well I dont care...
Youre here, tonight.

I can be your hero, baby.
I can kiss away the pain.
I will stand by your forever.
You can take my breath away.

I can be your hero.
I can kiss away the pain.
And I will stand by you, forever.
You can take my breath away.
You can take my breath away.

I can be your hero.

Journey of life?

"Owning a business is not all about having glamour... Time passed slowly as his tired body watied patiently at the noisy bus-stop. The bus finally arrived in 5mins which felt like hours to the tired soul in the young boy. The interior of the bus was pitch black, and the bus driver opened the door by jumping out of his sit and pushing the emergency door cock, announcing that there were no lights. And the door was faulty which cannot be opened by the controls on his seat. But what was amazing about this bus was the fact that even thou the electronics component for the doors and the lights were spoiled, the ezlink terminal (aka the money collection terminal) still worked and the aircon was still functioning. The tired boy boarded the bus and continued his journey home.... To his horror, the bus driver was driving with the back exit door opened as he could not shut it from his seat...... "

Does the above paragraph sound like an extract from a student's essay? No! Its one true story which happened in "developed" Singapore with "first class" bus service which keep increasing its bus fares..... Mine oh mine what a ride I had when I left my university on Halloween nite.... In a pitch black bus driving with its doors opened.... talk about safety man.... Was it a Halloween special from SBS? Were they trying to joke with us knowing how stressed we would be during this period before the exams? Man how could they let such a bus take passengers!!!

Imperfecto

I was sitting in my engineering uncertainty class when these thoughts flowed through my mind. In engineering we design and make decisions based on idealized and simplifed models that are in actual fact unreal, we are only trying to model things that are as close to the real world as possible. In actual fact, nothing is certain when we are dealing with mother nature, thus all the models are imperfect leading to our designs being imperfect.

We can never achieve perfection, there is no such thing as perfection in this world and everything is only a compromise between cost and efficency. The closer to perfection something is the greater the cost of constructing that object. The job of an engineer is only to make sure that the compromise suits the needs of the public, i.e fulfilling the safety standards and general functionality required without incurring too high a construction cost.

Is imperfection an art of perfection? Hell i don't know... Haha... =D

Perfection is scary afterall, imperfection makes life more interesting.......

Back to books...

"The end is just the start of a new beginning," this phrase sounds so apt for the occasion as its the end of the holidays and the start of a new semester in my university. The once dormant university campus springs about with life as students return to their classrooms after a well deserved 3months break.

Well my holidays have offically ended. Time for me to start gearing up for another semester long of battle with funny greek characters and evil mathematical formulas that seem to fill up every corner and every module that i am embarking on this semester. Engineering maths, using computer softwares to draw design drawings, the study of hydraulics, structural analysis and how infrastructure design affects mankind and the enviroment. The crazy life of an engineer. I am also embarking on the technoprenuership innoculation program, attending seminars and learning how does the business world actually work. Interesting stuff and a chance to meet and shake hands with big names in the business world.

I hope i can stick to my resolution for this new semester to innoculate the spirit of the samurai in myself... Never say die and seek the art of perfection....

Whatever the mind concieves and believe.... It can achieve... --- Napolean Hills

Courage vs Commitment

In life we often come across two simple words, "courage" and "commitment". But what are they? What meaning do they hold in our life?

According to the dictionary, courage is the ability to confront pain, fear, danger, uncertainty or intimidation. Without it, we would not be able to face challenges and overcome dangers. Much less live on this beautiful world. Why do I say so? We are living in an era of uncertainty, things are transient around us, nothing is there forever. Illness or unfortunate events might occur at any point in time in our life. Do we have the courage to face them and live on? In our love life, courage plays an important role as well. Taking the first step in approaching and talking to that nice lady takes alot of courage, proposing and handling rejections takes alot of courage too as well. In business, having the courage to take risk is important, without that the business would not expand and will always remain as it was, in ground zero. Thus all in all courage is an important factor of life.

What about commitment? Back to the dictionary, commitment means to duty or pledge to some thing or someone. Is it important to us? Yes, of course. Without commitment we would not be successful in life. To have courage but not commitment is as good as not living and not doing anything productive. Stepping out is one thing but having the commitment to follow thru on your task is another. Are you committed enough to love your partner? Are you committed enough to provide for your kids? Are you committed enough to stick to your principles in which you have lay down for yourself?

Courage and commitment goes hand in hand... Without one nothing can be made successful. Start living and build up your courage and determination to follow thru what u have planned to do in the first place.

Motto of Takeda Shingen

Swift as the wind

Calmly majestic as the forest

Plundering like fire

Steady as the mountains....

was the words embroidered on the battle banners of the famous 16th century Japanese warrior Takeda Shingen...
